Laat me mijn eigen weg maar gaan
Laat me vallen en weer opstaan
Laat me even in de waan
dat 'in the end' alles goed zal gaan

Stilte
Hier vocht men dagen met zijn stilte.
Als een woord lag men te wachten
op zin, het zwenken van taal.
Zo kon men botsen met zijn ogen,
als gaten diep verankerd.
Ook wilde men spreken over letters
als wankele staketsels.
Over lang vervlogen nachten
met een ingemaakte man,
het kermen van de katten.
Niets was onbelangrijk.

His dream had
changed from wish
and possibility to
a longing that
folded inside of
him.

I'll grow when you grow
Let me loosen up the blindfold
I'll fly when you cry
Lift us out of this landslide
Wherever you go
Whenever we part
I'll keep on healing all the scars
That we've collected from the start
I'd rather this than live without you
For every wish upon a star
That goes unanswered in the dark
There is a dream, I've dreamt about you
And from afar, I lie awake
Close my eyes to find I wouldn't be the same
I'll shine when you shine
Painted pictures on my mind
Sun sets on this ocean
Never once on my devotion
However you are
Or far that you're far
I'll keep on healing all the scars
That we've collected from the start
I'd rather this than live without you
For every wish upon a star
That goes unanswered in the dark
There is a dream, I've dreamt about you
And from afar, I lie awake
Close my eyes to find I'd never be the same
Without you, without you?

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning,
but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

Life isn't about having, it's about being.
You could surround yourself with all that money can buy,
and you'd still be as miserable as a human can be.
I know people with perfect bodies who don't have half the happiness I've found.
On my journeys I've seen more joy in the slums of Mumbai and the orphanages of Africa than in wealthy gated communities and on sprawling estates worth millions. Why is that?
You'll find contentment when your talents and passion are completely engaged, in full force. Recognise instant self-gratification for what it is. Resist the temptation to grab for material objects like the perfect house, the coolest clothes or the hottest car.
The 'if I just had X, I would be happy syndrome' is a mass delusion.
When you look for happiness in mere objects, they are never enough.
Look around. Look within.

Comes The Dawn
After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
And company doesn’t mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure…
That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn…
With every goodbye you learn.

Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us.
Not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdrawal.
The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are.
We are all hungry for this other silence.
It is hard to find.
In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment,
a strength on which to build a life.
Silence is a place of great power and healing.

I am always sad, I think.
Perhaps this signifies that I am not sad at all,
because sadness is something lower than your normal disposition,
and I am always the same thing.
Perhaps I am the only person in the world, then,
who never becomes sad.
Perhaps I am lucky.

Living is not thinking.
Thought is formed and guided by objective reality outside us.
Living is the constant adjustment of thought to life
and life to thought in such a way that we are always growing,
always experiencing new things in the old and old things in the new.
Thus life is always new.

Life is so full of unpredictable beauty and strange surprises.
Sometimes that beauty is too much for me to handle.
Do you know that feeling?
When something is just too beautiful?
When someone says something or writes something
or plays something that moves you to the point of tears,
maybe even changes you.
