A little 6 year old girl sat in the back of the class drawing. The teacher said this little girl hardly ever paid attention. In this drawing lesson, she did. And the teacher was fascinated.
She went over to her, and she said, what are you drawing?
And the girl said, I’m drawing a picture of God.
And the teacher said that nobody knows what God looks like, and the girl said, “they will in a minute.

Controle heeft alles te maken met angst. We denken dat we, wanneer we er
maar genoeg bovenop zitten, nog kunnen ontsnappen aan de illusie van
gevaar of tekortschieten.
I urge that when we are suffering, when we are overcome by shock, we should not do anything, we should not say anything.
We should go home to ourselves and practice mindful breathing and mindful walking to allow ourselves to calm down and to allow lucidity to come, so we can understand the real roots of our suffering and the suffering of the world.
Only with that understanding can compassion arise.- Thich Nhat Hanh -
Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.- Plato, The Republic -

You
know the feeling… when someone has wronged you, and you’re absolutely
convinced you’re right, and you’ve been repeating the same story so many
times in your head that there’s no room for any other way it could
possibly be. Keep reading to end your suffering.
Next time you feel like that, stop, take a breath, and ask yourself:
🔹 Am I Projecting?
As
Anaïs Nin wisely said, “We do not see the world as it is, we see it as
we are.” If someone says something that offends us, we believe a partner
is not being mindful of our wishes, or we’re feeling ignored by a loved
one, chances are this is not their conscious intention. More likely
it’s our own unconscious insecurities coming to the surface. Before
becoming angry at someone else, ask if it’s possible for you to instead
meet your own needs. There is only one person you can control, after
all: yourself.
🔹 Am I Reacting?
A
knee-jerk reaction is rarely a productive one. If you find yourself
reacting, stop and instead ask, “How can we achieve the best outcome for
everyone involved?” and always, “How can I be the presence of love?”
🔹 Can I Change My Perspective?
Our
reality has so many filters—our beliefs, past experiences, current
emotions—that it can easily become distorted. Next time a situation with
someone is bothering you, try this interesting exercise and ask
yourself: “How would the other person see it?” You can get creative with
other questions, such as, “How would the Dalai Lama/my childhood
self/my 80-year-old self/my dog see it?” When you open yourself to a
more expansive perspective, you rise above the level of the problem to
the level of the solution.

War begins when we harden our hearts, and we harden them easily—in
minor ways and then in quite serious, major ways, such as hatred and
prejudice—whenever we feel uncomfortable.
It’s so sad, really, because
our motivation in hardening our hearts is to find some kind of ease,
some kind of freedom from the distress that we’re feeling . . .
We can talk about ending war and we can march for ending war, we can do
everything in our power, but war is never going to end as long as our
hearts are hardened against each other.

Feel how it feels to be in contact with something. Feel how it feels to
be hot or cold, sad or happy, at peace or uneasy, in pain or relaxed.
Walk outside barefoot, use all your senses, feel the sun’s embrace and
feel how it feels to simply be alive and to walk. Simply sense that you
are alive.

When there’s a fresh wound in your heart, keep it open until it heals. Air it out. Understand it. Dive into it. Be fierce enough to become it. If you ignore it, it won’t be able to breath. If you ignore it, it will merely deepen, spread, and resurface later, wanting to release. And when later happens, it will hurt even more, because when later happens, you won’t know what you’re bleeding for … Remain open to feel free.
