Spinvis - Doe Niet Alsof

Borislav Stankovic

People are more and more off, blocked in understanding, deluded into thinking.

People are more and more empty, tired of seeing, unable to hear.

- Charles Bukowski -

What is love?

After all, it is quite simple.

Love is everything

which enhances,

widens,

and enriches our life.

- Franz Kafka -

Wie zichzelf wil vinden,

moet niet anderen de weg vragen.

The real glory of meditation lies not in any method but in its continual living experience of presence, in its bliss, clarity, peace, and, most important of all, complete absence of grasping.

The diminishing of your grasping is a sign that you are becoming freer of yourself. And the more you experience this freedom, the clearer the sign that the ego and the hopes and fears that keep it alive are dissolving and the closer you will come to the infinitely generous “wisdom of egolessness.”

When you live in that wisdom home, you’ll no longer find a barrier between “I” and “you,” “this” and “that,” “inside” and “outside”; you’ll have come, finally, to your true home, the state of nonduality.

Love is not always living happily ever after,

that's a fairy tale.

Love is knowing how to face life together.

- Silvana Stremiz -

  All the stress,

all the anxiety,

are like waves on top of the ocean.

 They’re just the surface stuff.

Beneath that

there is a vast infinite ocean

of peace and calm, stillness, joy and bliss.

There are those who dare to suggest that trauma-survivors are too attached to their trauma. That they are perpetuating their victimhood. That they are choosing to remain stuck. Easy for them to say- they either didn’t experience as much trauma, or they have worked some of it through, or they are in complete denial. It’s been my experience that those who are the most affixed to the argument that we ‘choose’ our traumas, are usually the ones who are dissociating from them the most. Their adherence to dissociative new age beliefs about choice, and victimhood, are a dead giveaway. Of course we choose some experiences, but not all of them.

Let’s be clear about what we are talking about. Trauma is an embodied experience. It lives in people's bones, veins, arteries, tissues, muscles, organs. It’s in their cells, hearts and souls. Yes, it is often possible to heal it, but not always. Not in a culture that buries it and that has few methodologies for deep healing. Not in a world that is still actively victimizing.

Rather than making the assumption that trauma survivors are perpetuating their victimhood, let’s do something different. Let’s hear their stories with a compassionate heart. Let's listen in.

Leave the door open for the unknown,

 the door into the dark.

That’s where the most important things come from,

where you yourself came from,

At the heart of every addiction
is the attempt
to run away
from ourselves.

To flee our sorrow, self-doubt, anxiety, shame, fear, guilt, loneliness.

To be somewhere other than where we are.

To be out of the Now.

Meditation, true meditation, courageously dismantles the core addiction,
the addiction to 'somewhere else',
to 'another Now',
to 'not here'.

In true meditation, we are...
HERE. NOW.

We allow ourselves to be
exactly as we are,
where we are,
today, in this moment.

We 'bless the mess' of our imperfect humanity
with bare naked attention.
Even if it hurts. Even if it stings.
Even if it burns.

We stay.
We just…stay.

And...
We also honour the part of us
that doesn't want to stay!
The part that wants to run.
The part that wants to be
a million miles from here.

The part that wants the drink,
the drug, the cigarette,
the contact, the excitement, the chocolate,
the shopping trip, the next… high.

We do not shame that part either.
We see it, and bow to it.
We offer it unlimited compassion.
It is also sacred.
And young, and scared.

Friend, even your non-acceptance
is acceptable to life,
and not ugly, sinful, unspiritual or a mistake.

Even the most 'violent' thunderstorms
are welcome here
in the vastness of the Sky
that is your undying, merciful Presence.

 Lessons in humility by Nature

 Bare feet..

The one

who angers you

controls you.

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice -
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late enough,
and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voice behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do -
-determined to save
the only life that you could save.

PRETTY FEMALE

You don't have to be pretty.

You don't owe prettiness to anyone.

Not to your boyfriend...spouse...partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street.

You don't owe it to your mother, you don't owe it to your children, you don't owe it to civilization in general.

Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked 'female.'

We need to shake ourselves sometimes and really ask:

“What if I were to die tonight? What then?”

We do not know whether we will wake up tomorrow, or where.

If you breathe out and you cannot breathe in again, you are dead.

It’s as simple as that.

As a Tibetan saying goes:

“Tomorrow or the next life—which comes first, we never know.”

‘La petite bonté’

zaterdag 1 oktober 2022
