Drie bevrijdende inzichten

We
must not be attached to a view or a doctrine, even a Buddhist one. .. .
The Buddha said that if in a certain moment or place you adopt
something as the absolute truth, and you attach to that, then you will
no longer have any chance to reach the truth. Even when the truth comes
and knocks on your door, and asks you to open the door, you won’t
recognize it. So you must not be too attached to dogma – to what you
believe, and to what you perceive."

Sufi Story
~
A monk decided to meditate alone, away from his monastery. He
took his boat out to the middle of the lake, moored it there, closed his
eyes and began meditating. After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly felt the bump of another boat colliding with his own.
With his eyes still closed, he felt his anger rising, and by the time he opened his eyes, he was ready to scream at the boatman who had so carelessly disturbed his meditation. But when he opened his eyes, he was surprised to find that it was an empty boat that had struck his own. It had probably gotten untethered and floated to the middle of the lake.
At that moment, the monk had a great realization. He understood that the anger was within him; it merely needed the bump of an external object to provoke it out of him. From then on, whenever he came across someone who irritated him or provoked him to anger, he would remind himself, that the other person was merely an empty boat, the anger was within him.

Above all, do not lose your desire to walk.
Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness.
I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.
But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill.
Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.
- Søren Kierkegaard -
Close your eyes and spend some time just learning to relax yourself, just to relax your body. Just to feel comfortable with yourself. Spend some time feeling happy that you are meditating now. Feeling good about what you are trying to learn. Just know from moment-to-moment what you are hearing, the thoughts that you are having, the sensations you are experiencing in the body.- Godwin Samararatne -

Difficult things provoke all your irritations and bring your habitual patterns to the surface.
And that becomes the moment of truth.
Your have the choice to launch into your lousy habitual patterns, or to stay with the rawness and discomfort of the situation and let it transform you.

It’s like a mother, when the baby is crying, she picks up the baby and she holds the baby tenderly in her arms. Your pain, your anxiety is your baby. You have to take care of it. You have to go back to yourself, recognize the suffering in you, embrace the suffering, and you get a relief.

There’s nothing like an illness to set things in perspective. The
ordinary business of life ceases and suddenly we’re back to basics. We
say goodbye to people we love, or prepare ourselves to depart. We think
of what we might have done in life, things we should have said, or the
opposite – what we should have ignored and omitted. Then to have a
second chance! How marvelous this fragile valley becomes.

If you can see a thing whole...it seems that it's
always beautiful.
Planets, lives... But up close, a world's all dirt and
rocks.
And day to day, life's a hard job, you get tired, you lose the
pattern. You need distance...
The way to see how beautiful the earth is,
is to see it as the moon.
The way to see how beautiful life is, is from
the vantage point of death.
