Philip Glass -The Poet Acts

The world is gray.

He listens to the world each day

A world that falls in disarray.

A world of dreamers made of clay.

But not today.

Reluctant to the taste of facts

The poet acts.

He disappears,

And even though he is still there

Looking deep into his eyes

You won't find truths, you won't find lies

No cheerful love, nor loss or fears,

No smiles, no tears.

But in his eyes, you'll find colors everywhere.

WE ARE ALL ALIVE TOGETHER

Geliefde God,

Als we vallen, laat ons dan in onszelf vallen.

Laat ons vrijelijk en geheel vallen.

Opdat we ootmoedig onze diepte zullen treffen.

Vaste grond om weer op te kunnen staan

en opnieuw lief te hebben.

Amen

- Leunig - Als ik met je praat -

Als het hart
Doorsneden is, geknakt of gebroken,
Blijf er dan af
En laat de wonde open.

Laat de wind
over die goed oude zee gaan,
En de wond met zout bedekken
Dat het schrijnt.

Laat een straathond eraan likken
Een vogel zingen in het gat,
Een simpel wijsje als een belletje
Dat het rinkelt.

Laat gaan, laat waaien,
Ontplooien, vrij.
En het wordt een weg
Om te bewandelen.

- Leunig - Als ik met je praat -

Liefde is als brood.

Het moet elke dag vers gebakken worden.

The Truth Pixie - Matt Haig

There is a story in Zen circles about a man and a horse. The horse is galloping quickly, and it appears that the man on the horse is going somewhere important. Another man, standing alongside the road, shouts, “Where are you going?"and the first man replies, ”I don’t know! Ask the horse!“

This is also our story. We are riding a horse, we don’t know where we are going, and we can’t stop. The horse is our habit energy pulling us along, and we are powerless. We are always running, and it has become a habit. We struggle all the time, even during our sleep. We are at war within ourselves, and we can easily start a war with others. We have to learn the art of stopping.

– Thich Nhat Hanh - The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching -

Angèle - Je veux tes yeux

Everybody wants to have a goal: I gotta get to that goal, I gotta get to that goal, I gotta get to that goal.
Then you get to that goal, and then you gotta get to another goal.
But in between goals is a thing called life that has to be lived and enjoyed — and if you don’t, you’re a fool.
- Sid Caesar -

Our suffering is caused by holding on to
 how things might have been,

 should have been,

could have been.

Wie geen gevangene is van behoefte,

 is een gevangene van angst:

sommigen slapen niet door de angst

voor het hebben van dingen die ze niet hebben

en anderen slapen niet door de paniek

van het verliezen van de dingen die ze hebben.

-Eduardo Galeano-

THE TRUTH PIXIE - Matt Haig -

Someone asked me recently if I am afraid to die.
Truthfully, I am more afraid of not living my life fully — of living a life dedicated to cherishing and protecting myself.
This fear-driven approach to life is like covering your couch in plastic so it won't get worn. It robs you of the ability to enjoy and appreciate your life.
It takes courage to accept life fully, to say yes to our life, yes to our karma, yes to our mind, emotions and whatever else unfolds.
This is the beginning of courage.
Courage is the fundamental openness to face even the hardest truths.
It makes room for all the pain, joy, irony, and mystery that life provides.

Tell me what it's like in heaven
I hope it's kinder than it is down here
With all the trials and tribulations
All the worry and living in fear

We are lost, we are scattered
We're balmy and we're battered
We might be bruised but we're not broken

Hallelujah, hallelujah
I might be bruised but we're not broken

And my heart (heart) is still beating
I'm alive (live) and I'm still breathing
I've got hope (hope) it's gonna get better
I might be bruised but I'm not broken
No

The world moves in mysterious ways
And life happens day after day
We all struggle, feel so neglected
'Cause life's gonna hit you
When you least expect it to

What's it like in heaven?
I hope it's kinder than it is down here
With all the trials and tribulations
We might be bruised but we're not broken

The most important thing in all human relationships is conversation, but people don’t talk anymore, they don’t sit down to talk and listen.

They go to the theater, the cinema, watch television, listen to the radio, read books, but they almost never talk.

If we want to change the world, we have to go back to a time when warriors would gather around a fire and tell stories.

- Paulo Coelho -

There will be people you love,
who can’t stay for ever.

And there will be things you can’t fix,
Although you are clever.

But listen hard, and listen good,
life might not go as it should,

but you are young and your life will be magic,
it will be happy and funny and sometimes tragic.

-  The Truth Pixie’ van Mattt Haig -

It’s important that we share our experiences with other people.

Your story will heal you, and your story will heal somebody else.

When you tell your story you free yourself, and you give other people permission to acknowledge their story as well.

- Iyanla Vanzant -

Trust the wait.

Embrace the uncertainty.

 Enjoy the beauty of becoming.

No matter how much we change, bend, or distort, we'll always encounter people who dislike us, disapprove of us, or disrespect us... rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough.

Some people don’t click & that’s okay.

Soms kun je een oplossing niet vinden

omdat je vasthoudt

aan je eigen verwachtingen.

There were times when I was between twenty and twenty-seven...that my dad would say, 'How long are you going to do this?

You have no money, you're not happy, you work constantly, you work at restaurants, you clean houses, you get sick very easily...you don't have any friends, why are you doing this?'

And I would just say, 'Because it's just what I came here to do.'

Treat boring activities as a sort of meditation.

Focus intently on them.

 In doing this,

emptying the dishwasher,

 driving to work

 or cooking a quick meal

transcend into the realm of spiritual activity.

Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height.

Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches.

Happiness is like a tree going into the sky,

and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth.

 Both are needed,

and the higher a tree goes,

the deeper it goes, simultaneously.

The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots.

In fact, it is always in proportion.

That’s its balance.

It's tempting to take on other people's pain,

but you don't need to fix their problems.

You just need to be there.

Letting go of the ever demanding ego (self identity)

is the greatest gift we can bring to our own life

and the life of all beings.

The less of ‘you’ there is, the happier you will be.

This is how to be no-one, going no-where.

Walk gently in the lives of others

The morning wind spreads its fresh smell.

We must get up and take that in,

that wind that lets us live.

Breathe before it’s gone.

Tonight go to sleep

 as though your whole past

 has been dropped.

 Die to the past.

And in the morning

 wake up

as a new man in a new morning.

I’ve got a bad case of the 3:00 am guilts -

you know, when you lie in bed awake

and replay all those things you didn’t do right?

Because, as we all know,

nothing solves insomnia

like a nice warm glass of regret, depression and self-loathing.

- D.D. Barant -

Praise and blame,

gain and loss,

 pleasure and sorrow

come and go like the wind.

Rest like a giant tree

in the midst of them all.

There’s nothing like an illness to set things in perspective.

The ordinary business of life ceases & suddenly we’re back to basics.

We say goodbye to people we love, or prepare ourselves to depart.

We think of what we might have done in life, things we should have said, or the opposite – what we should have ignored & omitted.

Then to have a second chance!

How marvelous this fragile valley becomes.

Live authentically.

Why would you continue to compromise something that’s beautiful

to create something that is fake?

What I want to tell you today

is not to move into that world

where you’re alone with yourself and your mantra and your fitness program

or whatever it is that you might use

to try to control the world by closing it out.

I want to tell you to just live in the mess.

Throw yourself out into the convulsions of the world.

Trying to fix yourself

People pretend to be nice, people pretend to be smooth, and polite...

You walk down the street and you’re somebody;

you dress like somebody;

your face looks like somebody.

Everybody is reinforcing their structure of the universe,

 over and over again,

and you meet [each other] like two huge things meeting.

 We enter into these conspiracies.

Please do not twist yourself into shapes to please.

Don’t do it.

If someone likes that version of you, that version of you that is false and holds back, then they actually just like that twisted shape, and not you.

And the world is such a gloriously multifaceted, diverse place that there are people in the world who will like you, the real you, as you are.
