What amazed me was the order of things...
the fact that
we wear clothes,
that an office has to look a certain way,
the whole
bit.
It’s amazing how accustomed we have become to a certain order.
And
you become more aware of that order when you see something change it.
Everybody turns around and stares.
But why, really?
Rules, orders.
We
have ordered things so long in a certain way, we are numb.
Nobody dares
question it.
This is what is wrong...

It's a difficult competition against silence,
because silence is a perfect language,
the only language which says with no words.

Because love is presence.
It’s
attention.
It’s noticing.
It’s listening.
It’s eye contact.
It’s
interest.
It’s care.
It’s love.
It’s putting the phone down and turning
towards.
It’s seeing the look on our partners face and checking in.
It’s
remembering today was a big day for them at work.
It’s presence.
Presence is love.

This
being human is a guest-house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a
depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected
visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of
sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still,
treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out.

It’s okay to change your yes to a no.
Yes’s aren’t
permanent.
They’re something we choose again and again, each and every
day.
Something we have the right to recall and reconsider as soon as
saying yes no longer feels conducive to our wellbeing and happiness.
It
doesn’t matter whether you said yes to a job, a date, a relationship,
sex, a favor to a friend, a social endeavor, or a vow of silence — you
don’t ever have to commit to something that forces you to compromise who
you are and what feels right; especially if it’s something you agreed
to under pressure, intimidation, or force.
Changing your yes to a no
might make people angry.
It might hurt their feelings, cause them to see
you as a flake, and result in lost connections.
But if saying no means
staying true to yourself, honoring your feelings, and making self-care a
priority, it’s worth it.
You are worth it.
Don’t let anyone convince
you otherwise.
