How Presence Helps You Face Life's Challenges | Eckhart Tolle Teachings

 Have patience

with everything

that remains unsolved in your heart.

Live in the question.

- Rainer Maria Rilke -

There is nothing special about the wise ones

they have only stopped believing their minds

To make the present our friend

instead of struggling with it,

is such a welcoming idea.

Yes, some things are out of our control

but the rest we can work on letting it all go,

let it teach us what we need to know

so we can enjoy our days that much more.

You’re overthinking because you really care.

 You don’t want to fail.

You don’t want to let people down.

But no amount of planning, worrying, or over-analyzing

can give you control over what happens next.

 Breathe.

Loosen your grip.

 Experience life as it comes.

- Michell C Clark -

We exhaust ourselves in three ways:

We create fabrications like mental concepts.

We exert a lot of effort.

We create many objects or targets in our minds.

These are the three things that really tire us.

It is like an insect caught in a spider’s web:

 the more agitated it becomes,

the more tangled it gets in the web.

This creates real suffering, real torment for the mind.

-Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche -

 Your anger?

It’s telling you where you feel powerless.

Your anxiety?

It’s telling you that something in your life is off balance.

Your fear?

It’s telling you what you care about.

Throw everything out of your mind…

read a little, sleep.

The world will still be here when you wake up,

and there’ll still be everything left to do.

DAGGEDICHT – Billy Collins (1941) - Good News

Good News

When the news came in over the phone
that you did not have cancer, as they first thought,
I was in the kitchen trying to follow a recipe,
glancing from cookbook to stove,
shifting my glasses from my nose to my forehead and back,
a recipe, as it turned out, for ratatouille,
a complicated vegetable dish
which you or any other dog would turn up your nose at.
If you had been here, I imagine
you would have been curled up by the door
sleeping with your head resting on your tail.
And after I learned that you were not sick,
everything took on a different look
and appeared to be better than it usually is.
For example (and that's the first and last time
I will ever use those words in a poem),
I decided I should grate some cheese,
not even knowing if it was right for ratatouille,
and the sight of the cheese grater
with its red handle lying in the drawer
with all the other utensils made me marvel
at how this thing was so perfectly able and ready
to grate cheese just as you with your long smile
and your brown and white coat
are perfectly designed to be the dog you perfectly are.

Wars arise partly from commercial reasons, but they also arise from the ill-will, the anger, the conflict, and the “us versus them” mentality.

 That’s what causes war.

So, we cannot find the antidote when we ourselves are still in that state of mind. It’s obvious, isn’t it?

If we want peace, we have to have peace within ourselves first, because our society is the reflection of the inner psyche and the minds of the beings inhabiting that society.

Who is society if not us?

We make our own environment, we destroy our own environment.

And as long as our minds are full of the 3 poisons – the poison of ignorance, delusion, and confusion – of not seeing clearly at all; the poison of our greed, incessant longing, wanting and the “I-must-have” mentality; and the poison of ill-will, anger, conflict– then that’s what society is going to give us back. It just mirrors back the state of our own minds -the state of our own psyches.

Leef naar jouw waarheid

We have a tendency to make assumptions about everything!

The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are truth.

We could swear they are real.

We make assumptions about what others are doing or thinking-we take it personally-then we blame them and react by sending emotional poison in our word.

That is why whenever we make assumptions, we're asking for problems.

We make assumptions, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing.

L'ESPRIT D'ENFANCE.

L’aube scintille

Eigenlijk had het anders moeten zijn,

maar het is niet anders.

Blijkbaar moest het niet anders zijn,

maar moest het precies zo zijn.

Anders was het wel anders geweest.

Dit is de nieuwe realiteit

en dat is het nieuwe uitgangspunt.

I’m not trying to repeat the sagas.

I make my own stories and I’m very obsessed with not being nostalgic, because I think that 90 percent of the world is too nostalgic.

They don’t have the courage to face the present and make stories that are relevant today, about life today...

I want people to do more of that.

Let them judge you.

Let them misunderstand you.

 Let them gossip about you.

Their opinions aren't your problem.

You stay kind, committed to love & free in your authenticity.

No matter what they do or say don't you dare doubt your worth or the beauty of your truth.

- Scott Stabile -

Nothing comes from outside your mind.

Usually, we think of our mind as receiving impressions and experiences from outside, but that is not a true understanding of our mind.

The true understanding is that the mind includes everything; when you think something comes from outside it means only that something appears in your mind.

Nothing outside yourself can cause any trouble. You yourself make the waves in your mind.

If you leave your mind as it is, it will become calm. This mind is called big mind.
