Tonight go to sleep as though your whole past has been dropped.

 Die to the past.

And in the morning wake up as a new person in a new morning.

Don’t worry if someone doesn’t like you.

The truth is that most people are struggling to simply like themselves.

Be true to yourself and you will find your tribe.

“Zwerveling, jouw weg is jouw vingerafdruk

en niets meer.

Zwerveling, er is geen weg,

de weg wordt gemaakt door te lopen.

Door te lopen maak je de weg,

en wanneer je achterom kijkt,

ziet de weg eruit alsof deze nooit

meer belopen zou moeten worden.

Zwerveling, er is geen weg,

maar eerder kreukels in de zee.”

We can't stop negative thoughts from popping into our head,
but we can learn to recognize and challenge thinking patterns
that frequently pull us down.

We don't need to let our minds bully us
into a constant state of stress and sadness.

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.

Anyone who keeps learning stays young.

The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.

Peace doesn’t mean my life has no problems.

It’s more like I don’t go to war with my problems.

Which is another way of saying I’m not at war with my life, or with myself.

And that is quite peaceful.

I think the traditional 'feminine' arts of homemaking or dressmaking or whatever are shamefully undervalued.

They’re doing what I’m doing: making a space for another person to be in.

Creating an architecture for life.

There’s no greater task but also no more mundane one.

Kan je jezelf afleiden van pijn?

What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is related only to objects and not to individuals, or to life.

That art is something which is specialized or which is done by experts who are artists.

But couldn't everyone's life become a work of art?

Why should the lamp or the house be an art object, but not our life?

 Si quelqu'un vous dit :

Je suis joyeux à l'idée que tu existes ,

vous prendrez cela pour une déclaration d'amour,

The world tells you many lies about who you are, and you simply have to be realistic enough to remind yourself of this.

Every time you feel hurt, offended, or rejected, you have to dare to say to yourself:

‘These feelings, strong as they may be, are not telling me the truth about myself.'

- Henri Nouwen -

Do you want to help me in the battle?

Then stand with me.

In the center of my pain.

Don’t rush to hide it or fix it or silence it (you can’t anyway)...

Choose to stand with me in this place I didn’t choose to stand.

The moment you take 100 percent responsibility for everything in your life is the same moment you claim your power to change anything in your life.

However, the crucial distinction is to realize that taking responsibility is not the same thing as accepting blame.

While blame determines who is at fault for something, responsibility determines who is committed to improving a situation.

It rarely matters who is at fault.

All that matters is that you are committed to improving your situation.

innerlijke stilte vinden?

Someone put a handmade sign up in their window at the start of this whole covid thing.

It said “we can do hard things”.

I swear I think about it everyday and sometimes go out of my way to drive by that house just to see the sign.

Nothing others do is because of you.

What others say and do

is a projection of their own reality, their own dream.

you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Most of us prefer to live in the mind, because we believe strongly that the body is unimportant. The mind thinks, plans, executes and the body is simply going along for a ride.
⠀⠀
Yet, every pleasurable or painful sensation is felt in the body, not in the thoughts. The thoughts are just thoughts, whether they are negative or positive is decided by how they make us feel.
⠀⠀
In other words, our body decides in the end whether something is good or bad for us. When we think of a painful memory, the mind has no idea whether is painful or pleasurable, it knows once the body feels the emotional content. That is when the body tells it.
⠀⠀
This is why if we train ourselves to retrieve only good memories, or think only positive thoughts, we are also training ourselves to think negative thoughts. Because the mind has no idea how to distinguish them. Only the body does.
⠀⠀
Anyway, in reality, the distinction between the mind and the body is not real at all. The mind after all resides in the body.
⠀⠀
The mind is not always connected to reality and is caught in the past or the future. This means our body is reacting to the mind and feeling those past emotions. If we stop thinking for a moment and focus on the body sensations then we can connect with reality, as it truly is.
⠀⠀
Then we aren’t living in an imaginary world of our making but the real world. The factual world. It’s constantly changing. The moment we take time to describe our reality, it has already changed.
⠀⠀
So whenever we describe what we are feeling, we are already out of synch with our inner being. So how to connect with ourselves?
⠀⠀
All we have to do is see only what the eyes see, hear only what the ears hear and feel only what the body feels.

The most important thing in all human relationships is conversation, but people don’t talk anymore, they don’t sit down to talk and listen.

They go to the theater, the cinema, watch television, listen to the radio, read books, but they almost never talk.

If we want to change the world, we have to go back to a time when warriors would gather around a fire and tell stories.

We never really talked much or even looked at each other, but it didn’t matter because we were looking at the same sky together, which is maybe even more intimate than eye contact anyway.
I mean, anybody can look at you.
It’s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see.

What use is it to continue to hide
behind your facades and roles?
Why waste your energy playing games?
Isn’t it time to cry your tears;
to shout your passion;
to dance like Zorba;
and to let your soul touch
the Soul of the world?

-  William Martin -

 Words are so powerful.

They can crush a heart, or heal it.

can shame a soul or liberate it.

They can shatter dreams or energize them.

They can obstruct connection or invite it.

They can create defenses, or melt them.

We have to use our words wisely.
