We think too much and talk too much!
How can there be clarity in such a busy mind?
How can there be peace in such a noisy world?
With so much activity and so much noise everywhere around us, we forget that life is essentially a simple matter, breathing in, breathing out, responding wisely to the moment.”
- Michael Kewley -
Of course it didn't.
And when that first frog shimmied out of the water and employed its vocal chords in order to attract a mate or to retard a predator, do you think that that frog ever imagined that that incipient croak would evolve into all the languages of the world, into all the literature of the world?
Of course it fucking didn't.
And just as that froggy could never possibly have conceived of Shakespeare, so we can never possibly imagine our destiny.

This one question
—"What do I know for certain?“—
is tremendously powerful.
When you look deeply into this question, it actually destroys your world.
It destroys your whole sense of self, and it’s meant to.
You come to see that everything you think you know about yourself, everything you think you know about the world, is based on assumptions, beliefs, and opinions—things you believe because you were taught or told that they were true.
Until we start to see these false perceptions for what they really are, consciousness will be imprisoned within the dream state.
- Adyashanti -
When you allow your mind to wander, it will run with thoughts of dread and worst-case scenarios that you can do without.
You will have to become aware of when this happens and try to live in the here and now.
The more you think about the uncertain future, the more likely you are to freak out.
Thinking about the past and how you could have handled a situation better does not help either.
What you do have control over is the present and it is in your hand to learn from the mistakes of your past so you have a better future.
But if you are dwelling on one thing for too long, it will become hard to do anything.
In a situation like this, try to focus on the things around you.
Touch and find things in your vicinity to pull you back to reality and your mind back to the present.
Whatever is happening to us now mirrors our past karma. If we know that, and know it truly, whenever suffering and difficulties befall us, we do not view them particularly as failures or catastrophes, or see suffering as a punishment in any way. Nor do we blame ourselves or indulge in self-hatred.
We see the pain we are going through as the completion of the effects, the fruition, of a past karma. Tibetans say that suffering is “a broom that sweeps away all our negative karma.” We can even be grateful that one karma is coming to an end. We know that “good fortune,” a fruit of good karma, may soon pass if we do not use it well, and that “misfortune,” the result of negative karma, may in fact be giving us a marvelous opportunity to evolve.

There are dreamers and there are realists in the world.
You’d think the dreamer would find the dreamers and the realist find the realist, but more often than not, the opposite is true.
You see, the dreamers need the realist to keep them from soaring too close to the sun.
And the realist?
Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.
What are you today? What do you believe? What do you think? What do you read? What do you love? What is your music? What is your language? What is your climate? What hour of the day do you love best? What are your whims? Your extravagances? Your antipathies? Who are your enemies? Who is your God? Who is your demon? What haunts you? What frightens you? What gives you courage? Whom do you love? What do you remember?- Anaïs Nin, Winter of Artifice -
It is his duty to reveal every iota of the truth he has seen...even if not everyone finds that truth acceptable...
All debate about what may or may not be shown can only be a pedestrian and immoral attempt to distort the truth.
Dostoyevsky said: 'They always say that art has to reflect life and all that. But it's nonsense: the writer, the poet himself creates life such as it has never quite been before him.'
The artist's inspiration comes into being somewhere in the deepest recesses of his 'I'.
It cannot be dictated by external, 'business' considerations.
It is bound to be related to his psyche and his conscience; it springs from the totality of his world-view.
If it is anything less, then it is doomed from the outset to be artistically void and sterile.
It is perfectly possible to be a professional director or a professional writer and not to be an artist: merely a sort of executor of other people's ideas.

Everybody is a story.
When I was a child, people sat around kitchen tables and told their stories.
We don't do that so much anymore. Sitting around the table telling stories is not just a way of passing time.
It is the way the wisdom gets passed along.
The stuff that helps us to live a life worth remembering
