Most people are other people.
Their thoughts are someone elses opinions,
their lives a mimicry,
their passions a quotation.

- Toon Hermans -

Says the brain tot the heart ...

Every reader, as he reads, is actually the reader of himself. The writer’s work is only a kind of optical instrument he provides the reader so he can discern what he might never have seen in himself without this book. The reader’s recognition in himself of what the book says is the proof of the book’s truth.
- Marcel Proust -

Most people are just trying to get through the day.
Be committed to learn from the day.
Don't just get through it; learn from it.
Take from it.
Let the day teach you.
Join the university of life.
What a difference that will make in your future.
Commit yourself to learning.
 Commit yourself to absorbing.
Be like a sponge.
Get it.
Don't miss it."
- Jim Rhon -

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education
is the ability
to make yourself do the thing you have to do,
when it ought to be done,
 whether you like it or not;
it is the first lesson that ought to be learned;
and however early a man's training begins,
it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.

Verbondenheid

The great irony of life:

You only keep what you give.

You only hold onto what you let go.

Stepping stones

I think about the life I live
A figure made of clay
And think about the things I lost
The things I gave away

And when I'm in a certain mood
I search the house and look
One night I found these magic words
In a magic book

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day

And keep your hand wide open
Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

There's a hand to rock the cradle
And a hand to help us stand
With a gentle kind of motion
As it moves across the land

And the hand's unclenched and open
Gifts of life and love it brings
So keep your hand wide open
If you're needing anything

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day

And keep your hand wide open
Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day

And keep your hand wide open
Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

"Water does not resist. Water flows.

When you plunge your hand into it,

all you feel is a caress.

Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you.

But water always goes where it wants to go,

and nothing in the end can stand against it.

Water is patient.

Dripping water wears away a stone.

Remember that, my child.

Remember you are half water.

If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it.

Water does."

- Margaret Atwood -

Healing comes from letting there be room

for all of “this” to happen:

room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.

Pema Chodron

Among other things, you’ll find that you’re not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You’re by no means alone on that score, you’ll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You’ll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It’s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn’t education. It’s history. It’s poetry.”

"Feelings like disappointment, embarrassment, irritation, resentment, anger, jealousy, and fear, instead of being bad news, are actually very clear moments that teach us where it is that we’re holding back. They teach us to perk up and lean in when we feel we’d rather collapse and back away. They’re like messengers that show us, with terrifying clarity, exactly where we’re stuck. This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, lucky for us, it’s with us wherever we are."
