I think perhaps love comes from finding someone you feel utterly comfortable with, someone who makes you comfortable with yourself. It’s like finding yourself, or maybe it’s like finding the other part of yourself.

If we are not calm, if we only listen to our hopes or our anger, we will not be able to receive the truth that is trying to reflect itself on our lake.

We need to make our water still if we want to receive reality as it is.

If you feel agitated, don’t do or say anything.

Just breathe in and out until you are calm enough.

Stillness is the foundation of understanding and insight.

 Stillness is strength.

Maybe it’s okay that you don’t know what’s going to happen.
Maybe you should stop predicting and controlling and enjoy each moment as it comes.

People shouldn't have to appear always, you know, stable and content, because people aren't always stable and content. And it makes it harder...because we don't have the freedom to express all of these darker sides of our emotions. Because we're supposed to keep everything very, you know, friendly and polite and appropriate all the time. And I think that every emotion is appropriate whenever it arises.

No human ever became interesting by not failing.

The more you fail and recover and improve,
the better you are as a person.

Ever meet someone who’s always had everything work out for them with zero struggle?

They usually have the depth of a puddle.

 Or they don’t exist.

Perhaps the deepest reason why we are afraid of death is because we do not know who we are. We believe in a personal, unique, and separate identity — but if we dare to examine it, we find that this identity depends entirely on an endless collection of things to prop it up: our name, our “biography,” our partners, family, home, job, friends, credit cards… It is on their fragile and transient support that we rely for our security. So when they are all taken away, will we have any idea of who we really are? Without our familiar props, we are faced with just ourselves, a person we do not know, an unnerving stranger with whom we have been living all the time but we never really wanted to meet. Isn’t that why we have tried to fill every moment of time with noise and activity, however boring or trivial, to ensure that we are never left in silence with this stranger on our own?

There is an inner beauty about a woman who believes in herself, who knows she is capable of anything that she puts her mind to. There is a beauty in the strength and determination of a woman who follows her own path, who isn’t thrown off by obstacles along the way. There is a beauty about a woman whose confidence comes from experiences; who knows she can fall, pick herself up, and move on.

The years between eighteen and twenty-eight are the hardest, psychologically.

It’s then you realize this is make or break, you no longer have the excuse of youth, and it is time to become an adult.

relaties, activiteiten, bezittingen, aanzien, genot,

We just tend to complicate the process.

Death is certain, but when it will arrive is not. One thing that’s for sure is that we are not going to live for one hundred years. One hundred years from now, pretty much everybody alive today will be dead. It is very important to remember impermanence. The Kadampa geshes used to remember impermanence all the time in order to avoid seeking the comfort of the temporal life. They felt that if they didn’t bring it to mind in the morning they were in danger of wasting the entire afternoon, and if they didn’t bring it to mind in the afternoon they were in danger of wasting the whole night. By constantly keeping impermanence in mind, they were able to prevent the meaningless thought seeking only the comfort of this life from arising.

Parallellopipedum.

My hair has always grown in all directions and my teeth too and my beard. My nerves and my soul must surely grow in the same way. That is what makes me incomprehensible to those who grow all in one direction...They do not know how to take me. This organic disorder is a safeguard for me because it keeps the thoughtless at distance.

Your spiritual growth does not happen when you are peaceful and contented.

It happens when you get angry, sad, greedy, jealous, critical, and impatient.

It happens when you lose your “ spiritual mask” and realize that you are not superman or –woman, but just an ordinary human being learning how to love.

- Paul Ferrini -

Ze zullen me overleven.

WOLKEN

Bij het beschrijven van wolken
zou ik me erg moeten haasten -

Boven jouw hele leven
