Iedere gebeurtenis herhaalt zich nooit exact.
Elke keer is weer nieuw.
Elke keer opnieuw kijken, waarnemen.

Feelings,
whether of compassion or irritation, should be welcomed, recognized,
and treated on an absolutely equal basis; because both are ourselves.
The tangerine I am eating is me. The mustard greens I am planting are
me. I plant with all my heart and mind. I clean this teapot with the
kind of attention I would have were I giving the baby Buddha or Jesus a
bath. Nothing should be treated more carefully than anything else. In
mindfulness, compassion, irritation, mustard green plant, and teapot are
all sacred.

Sometimes in life,
we need a few bad days
in order to keep the good ones in perspective.

LULLABY FOR THE SEEKER
Rest, weary one.- Jeff Foster -
Lay your head down.
You have travelled far.
I have no clever words for you.
No system to teach.
No image to maintain.
You’ll find no philosophy here.
No answers to your many questions.
I offer only presence.
Sanctuary.
A bed. A meal.
A small kindness to repay yours.
I am no better than you.
My guru is life.
My lineage is love.
I do not separate
the enlightened from the unenlightened.
I teach nothing I do not live.
I quote not from books but from the cracks in the heart.
I see your fragility yet I see your immense power.
You are not broken.
Don’t let them tell you
that you are broken.
We met long ago when dust settled to form worlds.
I think I saw your courage then.
Close your eyes; I will keep watch tonight.
Through the day, different energies will dance in you.
Anger, fear, sorrow, shame.
Like smoke filling a room,
they will obscure
who you really are.
There is nothing to be done
when this dance commences.
We do not know where the fire burns.
All we see is the smoke.
When this happens,
as Mooji says,
keep only your eyes alive.
Do not wait.
Do not wait.
If you can welcome these energies
then bow deeply before them.
The smoke will clear on its own
when the fire goes out.
The room will be still again.
Relief will come.
And then may again go.
Nothing to be done.
Remember:
You are the room.
You are not the smoke.

'Het is vandaag mijn dag niet!'
Wie dat kan zeggen heeft nog geluk: bij veel mensen duurt dit gevoel langer dan maar één dag.
Ze moeten leven met ongelukkig-zijn; ze kiezen er niet zelf voor.
Verergerd wordt deze toestand nog door een tijd die mensen doet geloven dat ze voortdurend gelukkig moeten zijn.

Allow
Allow yourself your sorrow.Allow yourself your rage.
Allow yourself your shame.
Allow yourself your fear.
Allow yourself your regret.
Allow yourself your past.
Allow yourself to slump.
Allow your face to crumple.
Allow your feelings out of their cages
and let them run in your body.
Keep a mother’s eye on them.
But allow.
Don’t shackle.
It makes monsters out of mice.

True freedom
is understanding
that we have a choice
in who and what we allow
to have power over us.

Because
in our culture we overvalue the intellect, we imagine that to become
enlightened demands extraordinary intelligence.
In fact, many kinds of
cleverness are just further obscurations. There is a Tibetan saying: “If
you are too clever, you could miss the point entirely.”
Patrul Rinpoche said: “The logical mind seems interesting, but it is the seed of delusion.” People can become obsessed with their own theories and miss the point of everything.
In Tibet we say: “Theories are like
patches on a coat, one day they just wear off.”
