Your pain will find you.

Instead of trying to say,

‘Excuse me a second, I am going to do some practices to make you go away.’

 Instead, say,

‘Oh here you are! What is this about?

Can I really open to what this feels like?

I frequently say "I trust you" to my daughter
in moments where I am not sure
she will make the right choice.

Because my goal isn't for her to make perfect choices,
it is to teach her how to make her own choices,
 listen to her intuition,
and learn to trust herself

It's dark because you are trying too hard.

 Lightly child, lightly...

Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them...

throw away your baggage and go forward.

There are quicksands all about you...

trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair.

That's why you must walk so lightly...

on tiptoes and no luggage...

completely unencumbered.

Nothing can bring you peace

but yourself.

Focus,

not on the rudenesses of others,

not on what they've done or left undone,

but on what you have and haven't done yourself.

❖ The Dhammapada❖

The objects of our desire are constantly changing. And our desires for the objects we consume also change from one moment to the next. We are always running after something new. We may be infatuated with what we’ve bought for a while, but soon we take it for granted, we get bored, throw it away, and then buy something else.

As you grow in mindfulness, you reclaim your life. You begin to see how much time we lose in empty, meaningless consumption. Looking deeply, we see that empty consumption brings us no lasting happiness, only suffering.

The moment you accept responsibility

 for everything in your life

is the moment you gain the power

to change anything in your life.

ALIVENESS

Nothing to get.
Nothing to discard.
Nothing right; nothing wrong.
Nothing missing; already complete.
Just whatever’s arising.
Life/aliveness/this.
Innocent wonder.

Some people aren’t wrong

– they’re just different.

You will never always be motivated,

so you must learn

to be disciplined.

You can not fix it for them

your only value to anyone else,

 is to understand your alignment

and live it the best you can.

And teach through the clarity of your example.
