I am amazed by how much people can survive, endure—
and
how they can go on living, laughing.
After thorough devastation,
indescribable loss,
people’s hearts still beat.
People can, still, live.
This is perplexing, bewildering news to me.
Defies all sense and
gravity to me.
And yet.
When I see people living
—and we do! we do
everyday!—
in and through and around all kinds of circumstances,
I am in
love and want to know, how, how?
How
sad it is that most of us only begin to appreciate our lives when we are on the
point of dying.
I often think of the words of the great Buddhist master
Padmasambhava:
Those who believe they have plenty of time get ready only
at the time of death.
Then they are ravaged by regret.
But isn’t it far
too late?

According to whether we are in the same place or separated one from the
other, I know you twice. There are two of you. When you are away, you
are nevertheless present for me. This presence is multiform: it consists
of countless images, passages, meanings, things known, landmarks, yet
the whole remains marked by your absence, in that it is diffuse. It is
as if your person becomes a place, your contours horizons. I live in you
then like living in a country. You are everywhere.
- John Berger, And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos -
The purpose of music is to elevate the spirit and inspire.
Not to help push some product down your throat.
It puts you in tune
with your own existence.
Sometimes you really don't know how you feel,
really good music can define how you feel...
someone who's telling me
where he's been
that I haven't and what it's like there...
somebody
whose life I can feel.
- Bob Dylan -
