Most fear comes from the anticipation of an event rather than the actual event itself.

We worry beforehand as a form of preparation.

We want to get ahead of our negative predictions.

It's disguised as mental precaution when it's actually self-inflicted torment.

The price of being ready for future suffering is that you suffer in the present moment.

It is so easy to exist

home

Ego plays brilliantly on our fundamental fear of losing control, and of the unknown. We might say to ourselves: “I should really let go of ego, I’m in such pain; but if I do, what’s going to happen to me?”

Ego will chime in sweetly: “I know I’m sometimes a nuisance, and believe me, I quite understand if you want me to leave. But is that really what you want? Think: If I do go, what’s going to happen to you? Who’ll look after you? Who will protect and care for you like I’ve done all these years?”

Even if we see through the lies of the ego, we are just too scared to abandon it; for without any true knowledge of the nature of our mind, or true identity, we simply have no other alternative. Again and again we cave in to ego’s demands with the same sad self-hatred as the alcoholic feels reaching for the drink that he knows is destroying him, or the drug addict feels groping for the drug that she knows after a brief high will only leave her flat and desperate.

Sometimes people will hear you better

if you speak from a voice of compassion

instead of authority.

They long to be understood more

 than to be lectured.

The universe is changing, the universe is expanding.

 Everything is constantly changing.

So when a human being remains unchanged, like a rock, clinging to what he or she is throughout an entire lifetime, it’s a tragedy.

A human being has to be fluid, changing, expanding, developing, and at any given moment, has to ask,

'Why am I suffering?

 Why does this bother me?

Why am I searching for something?

Why do I hate such and such thing?

Why can’t I forgive and why can’t I liberate myself from this?'

All of my work is that, it’s the development of a character who slowly but surely expands, self-actualizes, and reaches a higher spiritual level.

 My characters obtain wisdom.

To arrive at such wisdom is to arrive at the joy of living.

 Self-confidence

is not about how much you know

 and how much you've gained.

It's about having trust in your ability

 to learn new information

 and find new ways.

Feeling secure isn't about knowing

you're safe on top of the mountain,

it's about trusting in your ability

to climb it again

 if you should fall.

Read books by people you disagree with.

Listen to others who think differently from you.

Watch programming you wouldn't normally watch.

Expand your mind and views of the world.

As right as you think you are about your own beliefs and experiences, others feel the same way about their own.

You'll learn more than you ever imagined if you see the world through beliefs rather than right and wrong.

Respectfully,

You can never be me,

and I would never want to be you.

There's no competition.

DE ZIN. Herman Selleslags (83), fotograaf

Of twee uur later? Perfectie is vervelend.
