As long as you live with an image of yourself there is fear. You
project various ideas about yourself, perhaps feeling threatened or
unloved in some way and already this created image stimulates an
emotional, chemical, neurological reaction and you feel restricted. And
then what happens? You try various things to escape this tension. What
we call “enlightenment” is simply realizing you are not the person, not
the image society has impressed upon you. It is seeing that there is
only unqualified nothingness. In this nothingness, you are free.
