The more you try to ‘let go’ the stronger your grip on the cause of your suffering.
The more you try to control life, the greater the unhappiness when it follows its own path.
The more you try to make others agree and support your position the more you isolate yourself.

The funny thing is,

when you don’t let people disrespect you,

they start calling you difficult.

De meest krachtige kunst
is om van pijn een helende talisman te maken.

Take my hand.
We will walk.
We will only walk.
We will enjoy our walk
without thinking of arriving anywhere.
Walk peacefully.
Walk happily.
Our walk is a peace walk.
Our walk is a happiness walk.
Then we learn
that there is no peace walk;
that peace is the walk;
that there is no happiness walk;
that happiness is the walk.
We walk for ourselves.
We walk for everyone
always hand in hand.
Walk and touch peace every moment.
Walk and touch happiness every moment.
Each step brings a fresh breeze.
Each step makes a flower bloom under our feet.
Kiss the Earth with your feet.
Print on Earth your love and happiness.
Earth will be safe
when we feel in us enough safety.

Walking Meditation – poem by Thich Nhat Hanh

In comfortabele schoenen

vergeet je dat je voeten hebt.

Some create with their music, with paintings, with hand-crafted products.

Others create by helping nature to re-create by planting mint and rosemary plants on their balcony.

And yet others create with words and good thoughts for others, or with encouragement and with a simple ‘I love and appreciate you and what you’re trying to do’.

It’s all about putting good vibes into motion.

Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions.

You change direction but the sandstorm chases you.

You turn again, but the storm adjusts.

Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn.

Why?

Because this storm isn't something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you.

 This storm is you.

Something inside of you.

So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn't get in, and walk through it, step by step.

There's no sun there, no moon, no direction, no sense of time.

Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones...

And you really will have to make it through that violent, metaphysical, symbolic storm.

No matter how metaphysical or symbolic it might be, make no mistake about it: it will cut through flesh like a thousand razor blades.

People will bleed there, and you will bleed too.

 Hot, red blood...

And once the storm is over you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive.

You won't even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over.

But one thing is certain.

When you come out of the storm you won't be the same person who walked in.

That's what this storm's all about.

Imagine that you had gone all your life without ever washing, and then one day you decide to take a shower. You start scrubbing away, but then watch in horror as the dirt begins to ooze out of the pores of your skin and stream down your body. Something must be wrong: You were supposed to be getting cleaner and all you can see is grime. You panic and fling yourself out of the shower, convinced that you should never have begun. But you only end up even more dirty than before. You have no way of knowing that the wisest thing to do is to be patient and to finish the shower. It may look for a while as if you are getting even dirtier, but if you keep on washing, you will emerge fresh and clean. It’s all a process, the process of purification.
Whenever doubt arises, see it simply as an obstacle, recognize it as an understanding that is calling out to be clarified or unblocked, and know that it is not a fundamental problem but simply a stage in the process of purification and learning. Allow the process to continue and complete itself, and never lose your trust or resolve. This is the way followed by all the great practitioners of the past, who used to say: “There is no armor like perseverance.”

Please ask yourself, “What nourishes joy in me?
What nourishes joy in others? Do I nourish joy in myself and others enough?”
The cessation of suffering — well-being — is available if you know how to enjoy the precious jewels you already have.
You have eyes that can see, lungs that can breathe, legs that can walk, and lips that can smile. When you are suffering, look deeply at your situation and find the conditions for happiness that are already there, already available.
- Thich Nhat Hanh -

Confidence is not ‘they will like me’.

Confidence is ‘I’ll be fine if they don’t.'
